Questions Before Your Visit

A little clarity makes the first step easier.

Your first visit is intentionally unhurried. We begin with a detailed conversation about your health history, current concerns, sleep, digestion, energy, medications, and the patterns connecting your symptoms. This is followed by an individualized assessment and, when appropriate, treatment during the same visit. Because new-patient appointments require a larger protected window, please request your first visit through the contact page rather than booking directly online.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and have a light meal beforehand so you are neither overly full nor arriving on an empty stomach. Please bring an up-to-date list of medications and supplements, along with any information you feel may be relevant. Continue prescribed medication as directed by your medical provider.

Acupuncture needles are extremely fine. Many people feel little more than a brief pinch, pressure, warmth, heaviness, or a gentle travelling sensation. Treatment should remain within your comfort. If anything feels sharp or unpleasant, say so and the needle can be adjusted or removed.

There is no honest one-size-fits-all number. It depends on the concern, how long it has been present, your overall health, and how your body responds. We will discuss a reasonable plan after the initial assessment and adjust it according to your progress rather than locking you into a package.

Sometimes they can, but this must be considered individually. Please disclose all prescription medications, over-the-counter products, supplements, allergies, and relevant health conditions. Herbal formulas are selected with those factors in mind and may be adjusted or avoided when there is a concern. Do not stop or change prescribed medication without speaking with the prescribing professional.

Many people feel relaxed, pleasantly tired, or more settled after treatment. Occasionally there may be temporary tenderness, a small bruise, or a short-lived change in symptoms as the body responds. Rest, hydrate, and pay attention to how you feel. If something concerns you or feels unusual, please contact Tao of Health.
